This aerial view from 1981 shows Hjorted's central part, the church village, from the south. The buildings to the lower left of the road comprise Sundsgården, a home for the elderly built about 1951. The set of buildings to the left of the church yard is the school. The long house to the right of the church is a nursing home for chronically ill people. Up to 1895 the bridge was a narrow footbridge allowing only pedestrians and people riding horses. Vehicles had to make a detour around the lake towards the east. Here's a closeup view of the church
