Oberg Family Reunion 2007
The Main Event - Dinner Time!
The dinner was a delicious buffet (Smorgasbord) style meal including beef, chicken, pasta, veggies, and dessert. This was the main event and was well attended. We all enjoyed trading stories about our family groups and the ancestors. Cousin Lance Oberg did a great job as our MC and guest speaker for the evening.
The White Elephant Sale/Auction was again great fun and with lots of laughs. Rob Yendall and his kids again did an excellent job as auctioneer and auctioneer's assistants. Everything from jewelry (including a huge flashing 'diamond' ring), to nerd glasses, puzzles, books, and some really nice Swedish wine and cheese packages were bought for bargain prices. These were all wrapped so no one knew what they were getting. This sale was to raise funds to kick start the family treasury for the next reunion. The family treasury has been well maintained and guarded by our treasurer, Kathy Figini.
People stayed until 10:30pm browsing the genealogical notebooks and charts, showing pictures and sharing stories. It was noted from pictures that Carl Oscar Oberg now has a prominent granite headstone on his grave, a 107 years after he passed on, thanks to the Rowehl family. Rebecca Rowehl is the great granddaughter of Carl Oscar.
