We mention Fredrika Rahm Stoneberg in the Oberg pages because she was mother-in-law to both Peter Henry Oberg (married Julia) and Charles Elmer Oberg (married Levina, Julia's sister). Thus she became a blood line ancestor to two major branches of the Oberg family.

Fredrika was born on 19 Sep 1851 in Sweden to Carl Rahm and Maria Andersdotter (both her parents were born in 1818). We don't know the names of Maria's or Carl's parents. Solomon and Fredrika were married on 01 Nov 1872. They emigrated to the US in 1873. They left the port of Göteborg on 23 May 1873, with tickets for New York. Information from 1873 - 1898 is scarce and only includes their Census listing in 1880 in Conewango Township, Warren County, PA, and a few Warren, PA directory listings. Between 1898 and 1900, for unknown reasons, Solomon had left the family and moved to Portland, Oregon. His daughter Selma was married before Solomon left, and that may have been true for Nellie as well. Selma was married in 1896 to John Lenhart Retterer and Nellie married Charles William Keirnan in 1898 (we think). Julia married Peter Henry Oberg in 1900, probably after Solomon headed west. Levina may have been the only daughter left at home with Fredrika.

In the 1899-1900 Warren PA Directory, Fredrika is listed as dressmaker living on N. Pleasant Street in N. Warren. Solomon is no longer listed, leading to our conclusion that he left after 1898. In the 1904 Warren PA Directory, Fredrika is listed as a widow of Solomon (perhaps she thought he was dead). In 1906 she is still listed as being in N. Warren 702 1/2 East Street, in a house that cannot be located on East Street now (2006).

By 1910 Fredrika was in Jamestown, NY, living at 218 Thayer Street. Her occupation was listed as a baker at home. The only other information appears in the 1920 Federal Census that shows her living at 215 E. 3rd St., Jamestown. It looks like she is living with Collin and Elsie Tucker. We don't know the connection, if any, and who may have been renting to whom.

Fredrika passed on 19 Feb 1927 in Jamestown, NY at the home of her daughter Levina Oberg (46 Utica Street). She was buried in Oakland Cemetery in Warren, PA. Nellie and C. W. Keirnan are buried next to Fredrika. We have been in contact with the Retterer descendants and are in the process of contacting the Keirnan descendants.
